I rang the bell and waited.
I was nervous, but only slightly so.
I was fearless and full of life.
And it showed.
There was a flame that flickered brightly.
Everybody saw it.
It drew them to me.
It drew you to me.
You greeted me with open arms.
I didn’t hesitate to accept your embrace.
There was an ease there between us.
Strangers, but not.
But there was far more than that.
The air around us was charged.
You could almost see the electricity.
That we created.
Cold wine, conversation, subtle touches.
Lips and hands, clothing scattered on the floor.
It all played out so smoothly.
It was the start of something.
Something neither of us wanted.
Something beautiful.
Something ugly.
Something sweet and bitter all at once.
Something that is done but cannot be undone.
